More interest for Logwood

Sam Logwood

Sam Logwood has picked up a high-major offer with more recruiting attention coming his way.

Small forward Sam Logwood has really picked things up with his play this season at La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere. Under the guidance of head coach Alan Huss, Logwood has really improved his perimeter skills and now more schools are taking notice.

"We are starting to come along well," said Logwood of the season. "We beat Oak Hill and then lost to Findlay so there is a lot of work to do, but hopefully we can beat Findlay the next time if the opportunity arises."

At 6-foot-6 with big time athleticism, Logwood for the first time in his high school career is playing exclusively on the wing. During his time at Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence North he was asked to play center, and now his role is completely different.

"It is a lot different from Lawrence North where I feel like I was played out of position," said Logwood. "Here at La Lumiere Coach Huss told me he was going to develop me, and that is what I needed the most. I am going to play the three in college, so when I got here he gave me more leeway on the court."

Recruiting wise four schools are standing out showing the most interest at this point.

"The main schools have been Indiana State, Xavier, Michigan State, and Auburn," said Logwood. "Those have been the schools I am talking to the most lately."

Auburn became the first BCS school to offer, and he feels like it was big.

"It was a big pickup for me," Logwood explained. "I feel like that made people look at me more. It shows that my hard work is starting to pay off, but I have to be patient and take everything one day at a time."

One school that has been involved recruiting Logwood for a while is Xavier, and he has developed a good relationship with assistant coach Travis Steele.

"It's just the way that Coach Steele checks up on me and keeps the conversation going," said Logwood. "We can talk about pretty much anything. That is something that I like. I want my future college coach to be someone that I can talk about anything with."

Also the Michigan State Spartans have really picked up the interest lately and are trying to get Logwood to make a visit.

"I've been talking to them since the summer time, but lately it has been more consistent," Logwood explained. "Basically they ask how it is going and say they enjoy my game and want me to come up on campus and stuff like that."

For now no visits are set up for Logwood, and he says he is focused on helping his team get into the Rise Tournament at the end of the year, and hopefully get another shot at Findlay Prep.
