Southern Miss is talking with the fullback from Lake Central High School in Schererville, Indiana.
"I'm a bigger kid about 245 or 250, somewhere around in there and I can play tailback or fullback," he explained when asked about himself as a player.
"I like to think I'm a tough kid and I'm a tough player. If we are in 3rd and 2 then I'm going to get you four yards. That is how I look at it, and that's how I go about my business. I work hard everyday, I always say if I'm not in the weight room someone else is.
"I'm working on my speed with a trainer and I'm just trying to get better every day. I just want to land somewhere and help a team anyway I can."
Arvanitis said he's hearing from mostly schools in the midwest, but there is one school from the deep south showing interest.
"I'm hearing mostly from Southeast Missouri, Central Michigan, and Indiana State right now," he said. "I've had a lot of interest from all over, for example I was hearing from Cal and Coach Arroyo before he left for Southern Miss.
"Its a long process, and I just hope to find somewhere where that offer will land and count."
Coach Arroyo has continued that connection with Riley, and the two keep in regular contact.
"I started talking with him at Cal, and he contacted me at Southern Miss," he said. "I actually just sent some film to the coaching staff, and I've been doing my research about the University.
"It seems like a perfect fit for me there and in that offense I can help. Coach is talking about me coming for a visit but I don't know if I'll be able to make it. If I get an offer though I'm coming down there for sure.
"I love the new staff there and I've been watching a lot of their work-outs on YouTube. The intensity of football down there attracts me a lot and they have my major criminal justice. I've come to realize its a great school and I hope to get an offer there."
Riley said the coaches would talk this week after they have time to evaluate his film again. The coaches are going to get back to him in a few days to see what the future holds for him.
We'll keep tracking Arvanitis and others as we continue to near signing day. For the best in Southern Miss recruiting coverage, keep it right here.
