PREVIEW 2014: Columbus North Bulldogs
The Columbus North Bulldogs went 3-7 last season. That record was very deceiving in the facts that they lost four games by less than a touchdown. Optimism is high with six starters on offense and eight on defense returning.
Senior WR Weston Moore is the star of this team and very underrated in state rankings. Last season Moore hauled in 34 passes for 519 yards and 11 scores.
TE Drew Schoeberl is one to watch have a breakout season at TE. The potential D1 recruit is 6-6, 225.
Schoeberl would qualify here as well. OLB Brice McDaniel also started as a sophomore.
SCOUTING THE: BULLDOGS POSITION BY POSITION
The battle is one to replace Michael Vogel, who accepted an appointment to West Point. Juniors Mitchell Kelley and Wyatt Barkes are in battle to replace Vogel.
Josh Holt (196 carries 990 yards) returns as the top Bulldog back. Jonathan Byers and Kaleb Steele also return in the backfield.
Weston Moore is again the go to guy. Clay Roberts also is back as a wideout. The big duo of Schoeberl and Jonathon Weaver are back at TE.
The Bulldogs lost two huge tackles in Tyler Combs and Trevor Shutters. The top returnee is Ezra Followell. Looking to join him are Cam Miller, Steven DeDomenic, Zarek Moffatt and Levi Johnson.
Senior tackle Brandon Woods and senior end Jonathan Thompson are back.
Brice McDaniel (49 tackles) and Jacob Hamlin (58 tackles) are back at LB.
This should be the strength of the team with the entire secondary returning. Josh Holt will go both ways at RB and safety. Clay Johnson is also back as a safety. Seniors Justin Huser and Nick Sharp return at CB.
The Bulldogs will improve if they can improve their defense. On offense if one of the quarterbacks develop look out for the Bulldogs.
