Standouts Levante Bellamy and Aaron Banks lead the Braves.

PREVIEW 2014: Brebeuf Braves

Coach Mic Roessler had an unbelievable start to his head coaching career. The former Ball State lineman and Cathedral assistant led the Braves to the 3A state title game before losing a nail biter to Andrean 35-27. Roessler and company have ample firepower back to make a return appearance to Lucas Oil Stadium and match improve last season’s 11-4 mark.

STANDOUT

Senior RB Levante Bellamy is the man. Last season the 5-10 190 pound back rushed for 2340 yards and 35 touchdowns. Bellamy has multiple D1 offers and interest.

BREAKOUT PLAYER

Senior QB Aaron Banks really broke out last season after coming over from North Central. He passed for 2093 yards and 16 touchdowns. Look for those numbers to improve even more. I am shocked the D1 offers are not there.

TOP UNDERCLASSMEN

Junior DE Gerard Cathy had a monster sophomore season. He had 64 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and seven sacks.

QUARTERBACK
Aaron Banks developed into one of the state’s best last season. What can the 6-4 signal caller do for an encore. His backup Luke Iffert, a sophomore, has a lot of talent.

RUNNING BACK

Levante Bellamy will be playing D1 next season, what can he do in his final high school campaign.

RECEIVERS

The Braves wide receivers corps was wiped out to graduation. Senior Pat Wettig will lead a young inexperienced group.

OFFENSIVE LINE

The great news here is the return of four starters up front. Senior Tackle Max Magid joins guards Jake Iery and Jake Carr along with center Zac Harrison as returning starters.

DEFENSIVE LINE

Junior Gerard Cathy leads a strong DL. He will be joined by senior Danny Schuck.

LINEBACKERS

Ethan Beaty and Jack Robinson form a great linebacker duo.

DEFENSIVE BACKS

Senior Adam Iffert is the lone returnee in the secondary.
OUTLOOK:

The Braves have a great opportunity to have another great season. Establishing some receivers of offense and rebuilding the defensive secondary will be key.
